SUPERVISING THE OPERATION OF A GENERAL CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT: A SEMINAR FOR NEW DETECTIVE UNIT SUPERVISORS
April 29-30, 2009
A program designed specifically for law enforcement personnel newly assigned in the overseeing and supervision of their agency's general criminal investigation unit. The program fills the gap of providing information of a nature to assist such personnel who need to understand basic supervisory principles involved in the overseeing of their general criminal investigation unit. The program will explore various components of leadership, supervision, and managing daily operations. Topics include: (1) Your new role from uniform to investigative supervisor and what is expected by your supervisors and subordinates; (2) case assignment and review; (3) follow-up case management; (4) leader and manager roles of the supervisor; (5) managing major case investigations; (6) how to measure investigative personnel field performance; (7) common pitfalls to avoid; and (8) monitoring squad members activities. INSTRUCTOR: Chief Investigator and Supervisor John Fallon, Criminal Investigations Bureau, Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, Norristown, Pennsylvania.

IN-SERVICE HOURS FOR MARYLAND LAW ENFORCEMENT/CORRECTIONS PERSONNEL
This program has been submitted to the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commissions for in-service hours for persons completing it and passing a brief quiz on material covered during the class.

DATE/LOCATION/TIME
Seminar will be conducted on April 29-30, 2009 at the Charles V. Main Training Facility, 6424 Plant Road, Frederick, Maryland. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

FEE
$295 per person. Agencies enrolling three or more personnel in this section may claim a 15% team discount.
