MANAGING THE POLICE TRAINING OPERATION
December 8-9, 2008
A two-day seminar for either law enforcement or corrections training officers. The seminar will focus on ways to understand the training role and how to better manage a training operation. This is not a course in how to instruct. Instead, it will present ways to improve the training operation from an administrative perspective. Topics include: (1) establishing course objectives; (2) selecting appropriate instructors; (3) criteria for selecting outside vendors for training; (4) sending personnel to training at other locations; (5) record keeping and maintaining training documents; (6) budgeting for training; (7) determining present and future departmental training needs; and (8) planning and improving the field training program.

APPROVAL BY MARYLAND POLICE AND TRAINING COMMISSIONS: This program has been submitted to the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commissions for in-service training hours. For information on the status of this application, call Jacob Haber at (302) 654-9091.


DATE/LOCATION/TIME: Program will be conducted December 8-9, 2008 at the Hyattsville Police Department, 4310 Gallatin Street, Hyattsville, Maryland. Classes will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

FEE: $295 per person. Agencies enrolling three or more persons in this program are entitled to claim a 15% team discount.
