CALL-TAKER / DISPATCHER LEGAL-LIABILITY ISSUES
August 19-20, 2008
This class will deal with the importance of legal/liability issues as related to the field of emergency communications. Participants will gain some understanding regarding legal action which might be lodged against communication center personnel.. Topics include: (1) general legal terminology; (2) an understanding of liability/legal issues as they relate to today's "sue happy" society; (3) awareness of potentially high liability scenarios; (4) negligence and how it relates to the field of telecommunications; (5) types of negligence; (6) liability vs. negligence; (7) types of civil prosecution claims; (8) specific liability issues; and (9) "Monday Morning Quarterback" challenges of liability; INSTRUCTOR: Shawn Hogan, Communication Center Training Consultant, Crestview, Florida.

DATE/LOCATION/TIME
Program will be conducted August 19-20, 2008 at the Sebastian Police Department, 1201 Main Street in Sebastian, Florida. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

FEE
$295 per person. Agencies that enroll three or more personnel may claim a 15% team discount..

Failure to do so will obligate your agency to pay the registration fee. Substitution may be made at any time, including the opening session of the program you plan to attend. It is suggested that you make reservations no less than one month prior to the opening session of the program.
